Kisspeptin is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that plays a critical role in regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis and reproductive hormone signaling. At the molecular level, kisspeptin binds to the KISS1R (GPR54) receptor, stimulating gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion, which subsequently promotes luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) release. Researchers are investigating kisspeptin for its potential applications in reproductive endocrinology, fertility disorders, hypothalamic amenorrhea, and hormone regulation.
