PT-141 (10mg)

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a peptide studied primarily for its effects on sexual function, including improving libido and arousal in both men and women. Unlike traditional treatments that act on blood flow, PT-141 works through the central nervous system.

Mechanistically, PT-141 is a melanocortin receptor agonist, with strongest activity at MC4 receptors in the brain. Activation of these receptors enhances dopamine signaling in key areas involved in sexual motivation and reward, such as the hypothalamus. This leads to increased sexual desire rather than directly causing vasodilation. It also modulates pathways related to mood, stress, and appetite, which can indirectly influence libido. Because it acts centrally, its effects are less dependent on physical vascular function compared to drugs like PDE5 inhibitors.
